Would would like to send a BIG thanks to Kansas City Southern Engineer Bryan Ollie for sharing a safety presentation with our students on Monday. Mr. Ollie returned today, to bring keychains for all our students. The goal of the presentation was to raise awareness of railroad safety as well as, share the emergency phone number with all students and staff. This morning Howe Public Schools’ officials were made aware of a situation south of our community where law enforcement officers were in pursuit if an individual. Our Howe Public Schools’ Resource Officer was notified by law enforcement, and our staff was informed to maintain normal protocol of locked doors and to closely monitor our students as they arrived on our campus and began their morning routines. At no time was there a threat to our campus and at no time did Administration call for a lockdown. There was limited confusion, but be assured there is no threat or immediate danger to our campus. The situation is being monitored closely, and school officials are in direct communication with law enforcement as they seek to apprehend the individual. Please note: The KFSM Channel 5 News misinformed the public when they quoted Mr. Dyer in reference to a lockdown. That communication is being cleared up. As additional information becomes available or if the situation changes, parents will be notified.
