Earth Day Spotlight Our HS Biology 1 & 2 students have been exploring the impact humans have on the environment — and they’ve put their learning on display! In honor of Earth Day, they collaborated on a beautiful mural that celebrates our planet and surrounded it with their own research on topics like the water cycle, pollution, overpopulation, food insecurity, and more. Just a reminder; tonight's kiwanis 3-6th grade track meet begins at 6:00pm. If your child plans on riding the bus from the school, the bus will be leaving at 5:15 from in front of the gym. If you plan on meeting the bus at Poteau please be there before 5:45! If your child is running an event and can't make it this evening please let the elementary office know. Today, the high school celebrated our VIP, Dora Jimenez, for Administrative Professionals' Day. We greatly value her energy and hard work to go above and beyond in her commitment to our school. Thank you, Dora, and ALL of the administrative assistants of Howe Public schools. Our operations would grind to halt without you!

Next Friday, May 2nd, Howe FFA will be having their annual banquet. Dinner is at 6:30. Banquet starts at 7. We are currently planning on having crawfish. It will be $10 dollars a plate. FFA Members who have paid their dues will eat for free. Please contact Mr. Lott if you have any questions.

Congratulations once again to a few our public speakers. Last Thursday, three of our FFA students competed in our regional speech contest at Poteau. We came away with two 3rds and Abby Hale qualified for the Area Contest with her 2nd place speech. Ashlynn Thompson 3rd in Animal Science Division Kennedy Dean 3rd in Natural Resources Division. Howe Junior High Baseball finished 3rd in the Leflore County Tournament this week. Such a great group of boys. Congratulations Coach Mitchell and Jh Lions.

Our 5th graders took the lead in hiding eggs for the 2nd grade—and they did not hold back! From clever hiding spots to a few eggs buried like treasure, they made sure it was a true challenge. Shoutout to our creative 5th grade egg-hiders and determined 2nd grade egg-hunters—it was so fun watching the big kids lead the way and the littles rise to the challenge!

Congratulations to our 8th Grade Honor Grads! 8th Grade Valedictorian is Riker Horne. Riker is the son of Ira Horne and Ariann Stevens. He enjoys being involved in Civil War reenactments. He wants to attend Harvard after graduating high school. 8th Grade Salutatorian is Preslee McBride. Preslee is the daughter of Shelby and Stephen Billy and Joey McBride. She enjoys playing basketball and hanging out with her friends. She plans on going to college to be a cardiothoracic surgeon. 8th Grade Historian is Brett Barnhart. Brett is the son of Ross and Teran Barnhart and Ashlie Barnhart. He enjoys playing sports and being involved in church. He looks forward to high school sports and where God takes him in his life. 7th Grade honor attendants are Myla Wright, Kenya Soria, Valeria Sanchez and Britlie Brown.
